Carol Hughes

Carol began her singing career at the age of 15, singing in Westchester County with a band called Silhouette - comprised of herself; sister, Kathy; future brother-in-law, Bobby; and family friend, Brian. The band eventually grew in numbers, encompassing her sister, Mary, and brother, David, as band members, among others. They enjoyed a successful run of being one of the premier wedding bands in the county.

Eventually, the singing Evans sisters formed Leather and Lace traveling the country, playing in clubs and hotels from Maine to Key West, Houston to Minneapolis, etc. They eventually landed steady gigs in Atlantic City, working the Taj Mahal, Harrah’s and Bally’s over a three-year period. During that time, the girls backed up Bob Baldwin at the CD101.9 World Trade Center summer series, recorded with Writer/Producer, Porter Carroll, and had many other wonderful experiences.

In 1989 she had a chance encounter with Kevin Hughes, coming in to feature with his band, Breakaway, to sing a first dance at a friend’s wedding. This led to her joining the band in 1991. Kevin and Carol eventually married in 1996.
